Traffic Modifications for the Hampden Christmas Parade

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and parking restrictions that will be in effect for the annual Hampden Christmas Parade.  The parade will be held in Hampden this Sunday from approximately 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Falls Road and Cold Spring Lane.  Participants will travel south along Falls Road, east on W. 36th Street, and north on Chestnut Avenue to disband at W. 37th Street. 

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed on Sunday, December 3, 2023 starting at approximately 10:00 a.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Falls Road from Hillside Road to W. 36th Street
  • The Falls Road Exit (Exit 8) from northbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83.  Motorists should use the Cold Spring Lane East (Exit 9A) during this time.
  • W. 36th Street from Falls Road to Chestnut Avenue
  • Chestnut Avenue from W. 36th Street to W. 37th Street

During the event, parking will be restricted along the parade route including Falls Road, 36th Street and Chestnut Avenue.  In addition, temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of parade participants.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should expect delays and are encouraged to allow additional travel time and use alternate routes.  Motorists are also encouraged to download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.
